Gender differences in attitudes towards meat have been studied for decades. There is a deeply ingrained cultural myth that men are the violent hunters and warriors, while women are the compassionate family builders and plant gatherers. This gender stereotype is extremely strong even to this modern day where it makes no sense from any practical standpoint. The stereotype for a dinner date to this day is still that the man orders a steak and the woman orders a salad.
