# Sugar

Our body needs glucose, a type of sugar, to survive. However, our body makes glucose on its own by breaking down complex carbohydrates. Therefore, we do not need to add any amount of sugar into our diet.\
\
Fruits and vegetables naturally have sugar, but they also come with fibre, vitamins, and minerals - which is very healthy.\
\
Therefore, we should continue to eat fruits, but avoid processed sugar as much as possible - especially because sugar is already added into so many of the foods we eat.\
\
"About 15% of the calories in the American adult diet come from added sugars"\
